Throughout Easter, we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the reason we’re joyous is what it all means for us: One day, long after we’ve given up our last breaths, we will be resurrected, too. The hope we have in Jesus is not that we will get to heaven but that we will stand upon the earth again and look our Savior face to face. Heaven is kind of a layover, so to speak. We want to be resurrected and live forever in our glorified bodies that will never again see the impact of sin and fallenness. That is our final destination, not to lounge on the puffy clouds of heaven.
This is why we celebrate this time of Easter so heartily. Jesus’ victory over our enemies means our resurrection is guaranteed.
Thanks be to God.
